OUR CLIMBING COACHES
Our RocVentures coaches provide an outside perspective to assess your strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement to develop and refine your skills on the wall. There are over a dozen factors that contribute to climbing performance including flexibility, mobility, endurance, power, and strength. If you're a new climber, you are most receptive to skill development now! Our coaches will not only teach you technique, but will increase your confidence on the wall. If you're a more advanced climber, coaches will help you achieve your goals by designing a training routine, getting you climbing smarter and harder in no time.
I started climbing about 8 years ago in Pennsylvania. I have climbed in many gyms and climbing areas all over the country. I am a USA Climbing Certified Coach and the Head Coach of the RocVentures Climbing Team. I have coached both competitive and recreational climbers of all ages and abilities. I am also an adjunct faculty member at RIT in outdoor education, teaching courses in climbing, hiking and backpacking. I have a background in orthopedic technology which has been extremely helpful in my skills as a coach. Understanding how the body works and moves is an essential part of my coaching technique. Climbers of all ages and abilities can all make improvements to their technique and how they train.
I will give customized information to help guide you towards any of your goals in climbing.
I started my climbing career almost four years ago here in Rochester and fell in love with the sport. Since then, I've traveled to over 30 different climbing gyms in the US and Canada as well as several outdoor climbing areas. I have a year of route setting experience, and have had the opportunity to set in several climbing gyms, including RocVentures. I'm the captain of the RIT rock climbing team and have competed with and coached my teammates at mock competitions and community competitions as well as local, regional, and national collegiate competitions. Whether you're new to climbing, have reached a plateau, or you just want to improve your performance, I will give you practical advice and customized training for steady improvement.
I began climbing when I was 11 years old. I fell in love with the sport in high school and college and luckily found a community to continue climbing with after college. I love the sport of climbing because of its ever changing atmosphere. The sport keeps me humble while also presenting rewarding experiences and new challenges. I like to utilize the total body experience climbing presents.
If you cannot make any of the coaching sessions and would like to set up a time to meet with a coach, please email to have a coach contact you and set up a time that works for you.
